Here's a visual I created to keep my focus on student goals. It is really, really easy to get caught up on a lesson plan and lose focus on the "why" of doing it. Now, I have this to review with this question: "Does the current plan/strategy/intervention support this (these) students with their needs?"
A really good book that assists me with this is Debbie Diller's book on small groups pictured here. The book is full of strategies and lesson plans featuring the teaching deficits that align with both OAS standards and student IEP's (reading fluency, written expression, reading skills, math calcuation, etc.)
Creating a space where students can learn, feel safe, and discover new ideas is the most creative endeavor I've attempted. Here are my questions and thoughts, ideas and challenges, mis-steps and start overs.
