A Creative Person's Retreat
August 5-6, 2016 :: Discover your creative muse with those who create everyday. Sessions offered include photography, journaling & storytelling, creative writing, and meditation/yoga. Meet up with other creative people for a uniquely refreshing weekend with The Novel Gardener and other Tulsa area artists at the Ambassador Hotel in Tulsa, OK.

Meet the Team
Maurie Traylor, The Novel Gardener, is a Tulsa artist and writer. Her writing appears consistently in Oklahoma Gardener, Edible Tulsa and she serves as Features Editor for TulsaFood.com. Maurie participates in area art and garden shows where she highlights her daily "Scribbles," watercolor art that reflects inspirations and events in her life. Additionally, Maurie leads creative classes in watercolor art where her main objective is connecting others with their creative spirit. Primarily influenced by her grandmother, children and garden, Maurie enjoys the creative life and hopes to encourage other to do the same. www.novelgardener.weebly.com. Maurie will lead sessions in Storytelling Journaling, which will encourage participants to create journals that capture ideas, memories, images and intentions.
Valerie Grant, award winning photographer, has been capturing moments with her camera for over 7 years. Her passion is working with other creatives that push her creative comfort zone. "I'm proud to be a part of a creative process that encourages all those involved to be more than they imagine they can be." Valerie's photographs and videos can be seen in many Tulsa publications and events including TulsaFood.com and at her website www.valeriegrant.com. Valerie's sessions will encourage those new to photography to use their creativity to create personal photos for a variety of applications along with envisioning where this art form can transport them.
Robyn Fenell's journey with yoga reflects a passion to connect with others. Through music, meditation, and a strong focus on alignment, Robyn encourages her students to embrace self-acceptance through her own energy of love, growth and inclusion. Robyn is active in teaching at Tulsa's YogaQuest where she teaches Hot Vinyasa. Robyn will be leading sessions in meditation and movement at both late night and early morning sessions.
Megan Shepherd is a writer, editor, and journalist with a passion for nonfiction, travel, female interest, and food writing. She works as a copywriter and strategic brand planner for Cubic, a Tulsa-based creative agency, is a regular contributor to The Tulsa Voice and Edible Tulsa, is the former managing editor of Tulsa Food, has worked as an international brand blogger, and has had her work featured in such online lifestyle publications as Thought Catalog, Bustle, and Hello Giggles, among others. She’s currently working on being less busy and more thankful. Megan is leading sessions on Creative Writing.
Ellen Traylor is a creative force. She lives in Cleveland, Ohio where she works as a freelance designer. A graduate of Newman University, Ellen played collegiate basketball where she learned many leadership skills along with inspiring others to "play their best game." She loves creative collaboration, serves as the on-site coordinator, and has managed all print and digital content for this event.
Victoria McArtor holds an MFA from Oklahoma State University, works for a luxury residential mortgage firm, and serves on the board of directors for Camp Fire, a nonprofit youth organization focused on building leadership skills and social responsibility. In 2015, she and her partner founded Tulsa’s poetry and collaborative arts nonprofit, MUSED. The vision of their organization is to put poetry back into the everyday affairs of the people, period. Her book, Reverse Selfie is coming soon. Her poetry and prose has been widely published, and can be narrowly found at www.victoriamcartor.com.
